The Life & Times Of A Bartender Part 5
For part 5 of this site, I would like to
continue about more of my customers, and coworkers.
I work for a
lady, that tries to be an
angel to all of us. She has more strength than I have ever seen in a person, and
sometimes more patience than a person should have. She could be funny, ornery,
and caring all in one stand. My favorite time with her was when I was being my
regular sweet self !? I was aggravating her for
quite a while. I know hard to believe that I would aggravate anybody
haha. Anyhow my boss turned around and in front of
the whole bar said, you know you are a tolerance tester”! She was
so serious that we all started laughing so hard. But I know she didn’t mean it,
or did she? Believe me I deserved it. Her best thing to say to me is something
I learned to live by in the last couple of years, “How important is it”. That
saying has helped me get through a lot of things that would have made me
miserable if I didn’t think “how important is it”.
So that’s enough about my boss.

I
have so many wonderful funny customers that I don’t know where to start. I have
one customer that comes in just to see what we are going to do next. He’s from
Michigan. I don’t think he has ever been in a bar like ours. You can never tell
what is going to happen from one day to the next. He liked us so much he moved
out here. That’s saying a lot as far as I am concerned.
I have
one wonderful customer that has become my best friend. He never
use to say much. Just came in had a few beers, and
talked
when somebody spoke to him. I guess like my other boss said, I brought
out the worse in him. Some of the things he comes up with
is so funny. He brings me coffee every night , and I make sure his beer
is extra cold, he has a clean ash tray and a snuffer in the ash tray so he wont
aggravate the hell out of me when he puts his cigarette out. I always try to
have chocolates for my customers. They really like that. One Valentines day he
came in and handed me chocolates. After I looked at them I realized that Mr.
Evil gave me the chocolates he had left in his pocket. That is just one of the
evil things he did to me. There are to many for me to
mention.
Of course everybody has a customer that they
love to hate, but cant really hate. That’s how this customer is. His name is a
fruit and since I’m not mentioning names I cant tell
you what fruit that is. He is so very very
aggravating. You just want to throw him out in one breath and hug him in the
next. Everybody that comes in he calls a bastard. Not just
a ”bastard” but bastard with feeling like “baaassstttaaarrrd”.
He sings the song “My ding a ling all the time”. And many of times I had to
threaten him cuz he loves to moon everybody. He will
do anything for a laugh. One day it was pouring down rain. He went outside and
acted like he was taking a shower. I went and gave him a lot of dish soap. He
had suds everywhere. As soon as the suds was in his
hair, it quit raining. I thought we were going to die laughing. Of course I had
to go to the rescue. I took the first bucket of water, man how
did that ice get in there, and poured it on him. The
second bucket I just threw it on him. Well it did get the suds out.
A lot of times he keeps the bar laughing.
Then there are two customers that come in that
you have to love. They were high school sweethearts and met again later in life
and decided they were meant for each other. She acts like she’s scared to death
of me, and its really funny, because I know she really isn’t. He is so funny. He
is always telling me “ You are the wild woman “.
Those two have always shown that they care about me
There are so many things I could write about my
customers. I have so many wonderful people I wait on. Right now I am going to
end this chapter, but I am sure I will be back with more. Take care my friends
and don’t forget to sign the guest book.
Remember who loves you
Me and Jesus.
